Israel launches air strikes on Gaza, 145 dead

They picked the best time to do a very bad deed. The US is in transition right now, so it is harder for it to respond. What Israel is doing is massacring people in the Gaza strip and not even caring who they kill. The Palestinians aren't going to leave, so why not give them the Gaza strip and save lives. Is it that a new side of Israel is unvieled? Can they be heartless enough to kill innocents just to get to their enemies. Is it worth killing a hundred to get the one hiding in the middle? NO. Someone has got to do something. This conflict should not be able to scale itself up into something bigger then it is now. My biggest fears are that Israel will not stop and more sympathizers of the Palestinians will get active, resulting in more violence if we do not tread carefully. My biggest hope is that Israel will give away Palestine, but I have a hunch that will only happen when pigs fly. At least they could ignore one another after peace talks have been completed.

Can someone help me understand 3 questions.

1 Can the palestinians excape to the West Bank which is more moderate and would allow them to get away from Hamas and being human shields?

2. Why does Hamas use their own people as human shields?

3. While everyone looks to Egypt as a solution. Am I on my own thinking that Egypt is part of the problem. Why do they allow the arms smuggling to go on on their own land?

1. No, the West bank is far from Gaza and the Palestinians would have to cross Israel to get there. (unless they go really far around through other countries)

2. Hamas knows that when "civilians" die it causes world outrage and forces Israel to stop its assault. That's the reason why they launch rockets from schools or hospitals because they know if Israel fires back they lose the public opinion battle.

3. Egypt is part of the problem because they refuse to close off their border with Gaza when it comes to smuggling of weapons. The Egyptian government in itself is a US ally that even Osama Bin Laden wants to overthrow and kill. The Problem seems to be that they don't control their military. High ranking officers don't want Israel to exist and either closes their eyes to the smuggle or help it.

Can someone help me to understand why an Arab nation like Egypt does not take injured women and children and air lift them to hospitals? It seems that even Arabs don't like Palenstinians.

Because they can't. Israel doesn't allow any aid in or out.
