Default Kevin Rudd: Time for a new world order

Kevin Rudd has denounced the unfettered capitalism of the past three decades and called for a new era of "social capitalism" in which government intervention and regulation feature heavily.

In an essay to be published next week, the Prime Minister is scathing of the neo-liberals who began refashioning the market system in the 1970s, and ultimately brought about the global financial crisis.

"The time has come, off the back of the current crisis, to proclaim that the great neo-liberal experiment of the past 30 years has failed, that the emperor has no clothes," he writes of those who placed their faith in the corrective powers of the market.

"Neo-liberalism and the free-market fundamentalism it has produced has been revealed as little more than personal greed dressed up as an economic philosophy. And, ironically, it now falls to social democracy to prevent liberal capitalism from cannibalising itself."

As more and more world leaders use this term it's clear the NWO is upon us. To bad they will have to fight their people in the streets before we ever give up our rights. We control Government, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

First and foremost I failed to see where Mr. Rudd stated, as the article is entitled, 'Time for a new world order: PM'. Mr Rudd is only proposing a free market with an active state to intervene if the free market does not.

From what I read, I didn't see where Mr. Rudd suggests that ownership be taken away.

Kevin Rudd is at least on the right track here.

What do you think "social capitalism" is? Social Capitalism will lead to a world government, thus the NWO.

There's a NWO alright and it may very well already be here.

Businesses are receiving money from the government just so that they can continue with their ways of greed -- increases in salary, bonuses, etc;.

I'm sorry to tell you this but before this started to happen -- the economy going south -- our government (USA) wasn't standing in the way with business. No. Business had full reigns of that horse; the horse could be controlled to go to the right or the left, or move slow or fast; it was all up to business what it wanted the horse to do. Business could correct any action that horse tried without consent of the rider.

Are we the people going to have to write up laws stating that institutions of lending can't provide loans of $100-200,000.00 to people that are only making $40,000.00 a year -- especially without a consignor or collateral? I know what you're thinking, and I agree -- it's foolish to make a law doing something that people should have enough common sense to do such as looking both ways at a stop sign after you stop. The real killer isn't just what I told you; the crux is that those businesses package a whole bunch those deals and sell them like a blue light special to other institutions. What happens when those loans are not paid off? Someone has to pay them, right? And no one can't make me believe that people didn't make any money on those deals either. If anyone tells me that those lenders didn't know any better, I will not believe it.

When transactions affect a few people there's never any worry. If two people walk in to a car dealership and wish to purchase identical vehicles, and one person pays sticker price while the other haggles for a lower one, one person is only affected -- not a nation.

No matter what the government does, even if it reduces its citizens to the lowest physical state, cannot reduce our belief in a government "of the people by the people for the people". When any government threatens our "certain unalienable Rights...it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government."
