Default Why does Japan hunt whales?

Japan is a modern country with an educated population and yet they are one of the few countries that still hunts Whales. They are breaking international laws and lying about what they are doing. They are killing thousands of whales per year so the Japanese can enjoy their sushi but they are saying its all for "research".

Whales are not meant to be hunted as they reproduce to slow to support a healthy population. This act should be taken more seriously and Japan should be sanctioned and kick out of the UN if it can not act as a disciplined member of the world community. They need to understand that they alone are close to eliminating many species of whales and this is not a laughing matter.

Great thread and I agree completely. What Japan is doing is horrible and they must be stopped. We tried meetings, we tried protests and now we have to try something more dramatic because nothing is stopping them. They need to understand the impotance of this issue and if it means sanctions, then thats what has to be done.

I also agree completely because killing whales for human enjoyment is not right. They have lots of great technology over there, so why not make artificial or synthetic whale? Is it that much different?

Japan rather enjoy their whale meat and stick it to the world instead of being party of the global community.
