Red face MySpace to lay off 30 percent of staff

Hi,

This is my first post to the forum, it’s very informative and enjoyable really.

According to Routers, Myspace will cut its staff by 30 percent. As you can guess, Facebook and Twitter are very powerful competitors of myspace. There are many more competitor in online community industry and I wonder which one will become most powerful. Any predictions?

Hello, welcome to PWO!

Facebook took away Myspace's people because Myspace just got out of hand. All the pages look different, there was nothing but bots and no one used their real names so you couldn't find old friends.

In the near future facebook will stay on top. Twitter will be around but your just to limited on what you can do for it to ever challenge facebook.

Myspace starting heading downhill when everyone were getting viruses from their ads. The viruses in turn keylogged peoples accounts and turned them into “zombies” posting crap on their friends pages. Facebook is a lot more secure and professional.

Well... most companies are cutting back on employees so it's not such a big surprise that social networks are doing the same.

Facebook isn't. MySpace has been doing poorly for a while now.

A lot of companies aren't cutting back on workers, but most are.

Just a question, if most companies are cutting back on workers, than wouldn't it be implied from your statement that a large number of companies are cutting back?

I think that in the future, there will be other social networking sites that will dominate the niche, but it all just comes down to which website can best meet the constantly changing demands of the current generation(s).

Exactly, Facebook is on top today just like Myspace was on top 5 years ago. In ten years another site will be on top.
