Warning of new Osama Bin Laden attack
Nov 11, 2008 - 1:08 PM - by Steven
Osama bin Laden is planning an attack against the United States that will "outdo by far" September 11, an Arab newspaper in London has reported.

And according to a former senior Yemeni al-Qaeda operative, the terrorist organisation has entered a "positive phase", reinforcing specific training camps around the world that will lead the next "wave of action" against the West.
The warning, on the front page of an Arabic newspaper published in London, Al-Quds Al-Arabi - and widely reported in the major Italian papers - quotes a person described as being "very close to al-Qaeda" in Yemen.

The paper is edited by Abdel al-Bari Atwan, who is said to be the last journalist to interview Osama bin Laden in 1996. President Obama
Nov 05, 2008 - 12:09 AM - by Steven

Barack Obama, a 47-year-old first-term senator from Illinois, shattered more than 200 years of history Tuesday night by winning election as the first African-American president in the history of the United States, according to projections by NBC News.

Obama reached the 270 electoral votes he needed for election at 11 p.m. ET, when NBC News projected that he would win California, Washington and Oregon.

Campaigning as a technocratic agent of change in Washington, not as a pathbreaking civil rights figure, Obama swept to victory over Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, whose running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, was seeking to become the nation’s first female vice president.

Americans line up to make history
Nov 04, 2008 - 10:35 AM - by Steven
Americans are voting for their next president at the end of the longest, most expensive campaign in US history.

Republican John McCain is attempting to defy the opinion polls while Democrat Barack Obama is seeking to become the country's first black president.

Mr Obama, an Illinois senator, cast in ballot in Chicago. Mr McCain has gone to Arizona, his home state, to vote.

In the first voting of the day, Mr Obama won by 15 votes to six in the town of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire. The town, which has a 60-year tradition of being first in the nation to vote, opened its polls at midnight, with turnout of 100%. It was the first time the town had voted for a Democrat since 1968.
